Black Light LED Buying Guide

Alright, so you already know that LED blacks lights are the best portable black light that you can buy. No other light source gives off as much uv light as an LED black light.

There are lots of LED black lights to compare here with varying amounts of light output (nm).

Black Light LED

When you’re shopping for a shiny new black light LED there is one number to compare (other than price of course) that will let you know if your black light is emitting true ultra violet light through the LED bulbs. That number is the “nm”. The nm rating has to below 400nm. Anything higher than that is not true ultra violet light and will not get you the effects that you desire.

Another thing to consider is the size and the number of the batteries the black light uses. Get a black light that uses at least two AA batteries or three AAA batteries. With black light LED lights being crammed into such small packages not a lot of room is left for lots of batteries.

Anything less than than two AA or three AAA batteries will have you changing the batteries in your black light way too often. If it’s one thing I can’t stand it’s poor battery power.

Another benefit of getting a black light LED is that it wont get too hot. LED lights are very efficient and don’t waste much energy producing heat instead of producing uv light.
