How much fun is black light paint? Seriously, it’s loads of fun for both little kids and big kids. We have made small paintings in black light paint as well as large murals. We started off small with these individual black light paint jars. The kids really got a kick out of using their easel to create works of art on. Flicking off the lights and turning on the black light really threw them for a loop.
They couldn’t get enough of the black light paint and they still can’t. Every week we are putting on smocks and creating new works of art. Of course an easel and a two foot wide sheet of paper just wasn’t enough. They wanted to make murals. Huge murals!
We picked them up a couple of backer board sheets from the hardware store. Backer board is pretty much a thin piece if plywood. We painted it black and let the kids go to town with the black light paint on both sides. The only time that their smiles got any brighter or whiter was when their teeth glowed under the light of the black light.
We paint over the backer board with black paint once in a while to give them a new canvas to cover with their black light paint.
They want to cover the walls of their rooms in black light paint as well. That’s where we had to draw the line.
